Fibre optic networks are offering faster broadband spe

Virgin Media is piloting broadband speeds of 200Megabit per second (Mbps) for a small group of users in the UK.

Following successful trials in the lab, 100 "lead adopters" in Kent will have access to the high speeds, believed to be among the fastest in the world.

Virgin will be using the high speeds to test applications such as 1080p high definition TV and 3DTV.

Three new models of desktop PC series have been launched into the market by HP. The three models of the Pavilion Slimline series are s3000, a6000 and m8000. The first one comes with 1GB of RAM, and you can pick either a AMD CPU or an Intel CPU, but for the later you have to pay an extra 50$. If not you can buy it for 500$. The PC can be set with a low graphic card, maybe a TV tuner and a Pocket Media Drive.

Microsoft decides it needs a BigPark

Microsoft said on Thursday it intends to acquire BigPark, a Vancouver, B.C.-based game studio.

BigPark, which is made up of former Electronic Arts Canada and Distinctive Software executives, has been working on an Xbox-exclusive game over the past year.

"We believe BigPark has tremendous potential to create new properties and innovative gaming experiences for our platforms, one of which we're looking forward to showcasing at the E3 Expo in June," Microsoft game studios boss Phil Spencer said in a statement. The company did not disclose financial terms in its press release announcing the deal.

IT bribery suspect to stay in jail; evidence 'overwhelming'

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yusuf Acar, who has been working as acting chief security officer in the District of Columbia's IT department, was back in federal court Tuesday to seek his release from jail, where he has been held since his arrest on bribery charges last Thursday. But despite an impassioned effort by Acar's defense attorney to portray him as man with strong family ties, U.S. District Court Judge John Facciola was unsympathetic.

The judge ordered Acar to remain in custody, saying that the evidence underpinning the bribery charge is "overwhelming" and siding with federal prosecutors who contended that Acar might try to flee the country if he's released on bail.
